Welcome to the IPMS Roscoe Turner March 2007 Newsletter.
We will be meeting at Stonybrook School at the corner of 25th and German
Church Rd. this coming friday (March 16th) at 7pm.
1. Preliminary reports indicate we had a successful and profitable contest and swap meet.
We hope to have a more definitive report at this upcoming meeting or at the April meeting. I spoke
with a few vendors and they were very happy with their sales and were already looking forward to
next year.
2. I am attaching this letter that was sent from a gentleman in Ohio who attended our show:

Subject: Roscoe Turner show
I would appreciate it if you would share my email with the rest of your chapter.
I attended your show yesterday in Indianapolis and I have only been attending shows like yours
for a couple of years. I just want to say, from the vendor and contest areas to the design of the
trophies as well as the hospitality extended to me by your members, your show was by far the best
organized, best attended and the most fun I have had at an event of this type in my limited
experience.
The extended legs on the tables were a stroke of genius and I'm sure appreciated by the judges
as well. In spite of messing up where I placed a couple of my models in the contest and subsequently
my best works went home without prizes, I really enjoyed your show.
I hope the fact that I am a (young) retired public convention show promoter and for 25 years I
have produced public expositions in some of the largest venues in the country including New York's
Javits Center and LA's Convention Center, will add meaning to my praises.
Good show and I'll look forward to seeing you all again next year!

4. Rick has sent this letter to the club members concerning his kit sale at
the show on saturday:
Hello All,
Just thought I'd engage in some rumor control, that resulted from my sell off of kits, etc.,
at our show. No, I'm not getting out of the hobby, and I'm not "depressed". I am under
quite a bit of stress at the moment, I am retiring from the FAA at the end of the month
and starting a new job as an ATC instructor to provide training for new arrivals at Indy
Center where I currently work.
Add to that Krista is getting married at the end of April and I have a pretty full plate.
Hence the possibly less than jocular facial expressions while staring off into space. I
still have 150 unbuilt kits in the basement and at least 10 others in some stage of
construction, "the mill grinds slowly but it grinds fine".
Anyway congratulations on what by all accounts was a very successful show.
See you Friday,
Rick
5. The show received a very favorable review by Scott Van Aken on
Modeling Madness. He is very happy with the the
number of vendors, how well it is organized and the friendliness of the club members, among
other things. Take a look for yourselves and read his article, you won't come away disappointed.
