Introduction:
The meeting was called to order about 7:15PM by President Steve Bacon, with ten members present and four guests/new members.
Say hello to:
Nora Figueroa, paints and works with model figures and miniatures
John Figueroa, Aircraft, Armor, SciFi and other interests
Ian Bonner, Armor, mostly
Peter Woodward, Aircraft
Old Business:
Both the Cleveland and Cincinnati shows were well attended. In particular, the
Batavia/Cincinnati Countest was held in a Warbird Museum. The Vendors Room merchants were arrayed around aircraft. The FW-190’s wing is high enoungh to bonk a 5′ 9” hard a few times if they stand up straight while looking at merchandise.
Membership dues of $20.00 are still owed for those who have not renewed for 2022.
New Business:
Update on the White Elephant – Jan 21, 2022 between 6PM and 8PM. Please come before 6PM and have something to eat. MCL closes at 8PM so time is of the essence. our annual gathering for mayhem and mirth and theft of others’ treasures will be in January again.
Please bring wrapped plastic model of $20.00-$25.00 value.
IPMS Chapter Contest for 2022
Tablecloths – we are getting black tablecloths for the show big enough to cover two tables back to back, and the club approved spending up to a specified sum for them. Request for funding passed on a show of hands. This will save money over the plastic table runners in the long run, and will dress up the show area greatly!
Volunteers – Steve reminded everyone that the show is an all-out volunteer effort, and that the effort includes the clean-up at the end of the show, which was handled by just a few last year. Please stay around to help after the show concludes! Paul Philhower also volunteered to be a runner for the show next year for Steve. We will need volunteers for various duties during the contest and to judge.
Website – Our Website is in the process of being updated, so we will be able to accept preregistered entries for the show and take entry fees. This will speed up show registration greatly on the day of contest. A program has been built and is being improved upon. Funding for the project was requested, and passed on a show of hands. Stay tuned for more updates.
Name Tags – great way of identifying members/vendors during the show – tag on a lanyard. Kevin Burns will check out alternatives for this, and report back to the club next month.
Ads – Charlie is working with FineScale and IPMS on getting ads for the show in the next issues. Funding was discussed and passed by chapter vote for three IMPS Quarterly ads, and for three contest advertisements in Fine Scale Modeler Magazine. Our contest ad ran in the latest IPMS Magazine issue.
New Books
Ken Kindler and Jim Higgens has made a book of F4 Phamtom drawings and images. They are starting out self publishing the book. If you are interested and wish to support them, please contact them.
